Once upon a time, an eagle made a nest on top of a great mountain. After a while, the eagle had four eggs. While the eggs were still in the incubation period, an earthquake occurred on the mountain. One of the four eggs in the eagle’s nest fell from the nest with the force of the earthquake and reached a farm in the valley, rolling from the top of the mountain. This farm was a chicken farm. The chickens on the farm wanted to adopt this different and somewhat large egg, which is not very similar to their own eggs. An old chicken took the egg under its protection and decided to raise it without separating it from the chicks to be hatched from other eggs.
When the day was full, the eaglet inside the egg broke its shell and was born.
When he saw that he was on a chicken farm and he was among hundreds of chickens around him, he thought he was a chicken and started to grow up like a chicken with the chickens on the farm. Not only did he see himself as a chicken, but all the chickens on the farm considered him one of their own and treated him like a chicken. From time to time, the eagle said to himself, “I don’t look like the chickens around me… Who am I? He says, but he cannot express this doubt. After all, he was a chicken too, and he had to know and accept that he was a chicken.
One day, while playing with the other chickens on the farm, he saw several eagles flying freely above.
Unable to contain himself, he exclaimed with a sudden enthusiasm in his heart: “Oh my God, how beautifully they fly!” said. “I want to fly like them.”
The chickens all laughed at his words.
“You are a chicken,” they said. “And never forget this: Chickens can’t fly like eagles.”
From that day on, the little eagle looked at the sky almost every day and looked for the eagle flying above with its eyes. When he saw an eagle, he forgot the other chickens on the farm and was watching it with great admiration and longing until the eagle in the sky disappeared.
Then he would express all his admiration and longing with the same words, as he always did when he saw an eagle: “Oh my God, what if I could fly like them!… If I could fly freely in the sky like them.”
As he talked like this, all the chickens around him were repeating what he always said: “Give up your dreams… You are a chicken and you will always remain a chicken.”
The little eagle was so impressed by the words of the chickens around him, which he repeated several times every day… Finally, he gave up his dream of flying freely in the sky like an eagle and accepted to live his life like a chicken. And at the end of his life he lived like a chicken, he died like a chicken.
