TURN DESIRES INTO GOLD
Six Steps to Turn Desires into Gold
In the personal development classic “Think and Grow Rich,” Napoleon Hill emphasizes that creating wealth is achieved not just through hard work, but by establishing a consciousness of wealth. In his book, Hill suggests a practical method consisting of six steps to obtain the money you need. Here are the six steps that turn desires into reality:
1. Determine in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. Just saying, “I want a lot of money,” is not enough. Be precise about the amount.
2. Decide exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (Nothing can be achieved without paying any price.)
3. Set a firm date to receive the money you desire.
4. Come up with a plan to fulfill your desire and act immediately to put that plan into action whether you are ready or not.
5. Clearly define the amount of money you intend to earn; set a time limit to earn it; indicate what you intend to give in return for this money; Clearly describe your plan for making money and put it all down on paper.
6. Read your written statement twice a day, once just before going to bed and once just after getting up. AS YOU READ, YOU WILL SEE, FEEL AND BELIEVE THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE THAT MONEY.
It is very important that you follow the instructions outlined in these six steps. It is of particular importance that you observe and follow the instructions in point six. You may complain about the impossibility of “seeing yourself as having money” without actually having it. Here, the help of that igniting desire within you will come into play. If you want money so much that you become obsessed with it, it won’t be too hard to convince yourself that you will actually get it. The goal is to want money and be very determined to have it so you can convince yourself that you will have it.
For the inexperienced and untrained in the working principles of the human mind, these instructions may seem very impractical. For those who cannot accept the robustness of the six steps, it may be helpful to know that the information in these steps is from Andrew Carnegie. Andrew Carnegie started out as an ordinary steelworker, but despite his bad start, he managed to get these principles to bring him a fortune of more than a hundred million dollars. It can also help to know that the six steps suggested here have been rigorously studied by Thomas A. Edison, confirming that these steps are important not just for making money, but for achieving any goal.
The steps do not require “hard work” and dedication. It does not make one look ridiculous or naive. Implementing them does not require significant training, either. However, the successful implementation of these six steps requires sufficient imagination to enable one to see and understand that making money cannot be left to chance, luck, or fate. One should realize that all those who have made great fortunes have dreamed, hoped, desired, wished, and planned to a certain extent before actually making money.
