Street of Dreams for Sale

While walking down the street, a man encounters a crowd lined up at the side of the road. There is something strange-looking next. Curiously, he approaches the end of the line. At the very end of the line is a young man and he asks him curiously, “What’s going on here, what turn is this?” he asks. The young man says, “My mother is very ill, I must stay with her, that’s why I came.” He has something in his hand that he is holding tightly.

The man is confused. Unknowingly, he approaches a young girl a few rows in front of her and asks her. “What are you doing here?” The girl replies sadly: “My husband has been appointed, so I have to be with him, that’s why I came,” she says. The man, still uncomprehending, proceed to the front of the line and comes to a middle-aged man. The man doesn’t just say “Hello, why are you…” “For our child, what shall we do, we will bear it,” he says. The man’s curiosity and bewilderment are increasing.

He didn’t understand what anyone meant. Finally, he goes to the beginning of the line and watches carefully. An elderly woman tells the attendant: “It was my husband’s last request from me, but when he died, I got it, and I think I’ve gotten too old too.” The man says, “Well, give it to me.” He takes what the woman holds tightly in her palm and in return does what she wants. What people hold in their palms are dreams and dreams that they cannot fulfill. They give them back.

What about you… when and why did you sell your dreams?
