Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Because people dream of peace and comfort, they look forward to retirement. But what they usually get is frequent doctor visits, an increase in prescriptions, depression, and often premature death. The human body does not seek comfort, it seeks strain.
And perhaps we can extend this thesis from the human system to all living beings.
Stewart Emery has announced the results of a surprising study of amoebae in California. In his book The Realization, he shared the results of an experiment with two tanks full of amoeba to find out what the best conditions were for living organisms to grow.
The amoeba in one of the tanks was offered the highest level of comfort. The temperature, humidity, water level and all other conditions in the tank have been made to make living and breeding extremely easy. The amoeba in the other tank were exposed to harsh conditions. The water level, temperature, protein level and all other conditions were constantly changed.
The result that surprised the researchers the most was that amoeba living under harsh conditions grew and became stronger more quickly than amoebae in their comfort zone. As a result of this experiment, the researchers came to the idea that when the environment is perfected, living creatures rot and die, but on the other hand, those who are exposed to hardship and distress get stronger and show their vitality.
This may actually explain why the suicide rate in America has fallen during times of war. And that in Denmark, where an extremely comfortable life is guaranteed, the suicide rate ranks first in the world.
There is not much difference between death and comfort zone. Crossing the line is extremely easy.
The distance between uniformity and tomb is also only a few steps.
